A decision whereby candidate, fighting for a crown in her country, seemingly is given every benefit of the doubt by the judging officials.
Well could not avoid this kind of thinking if you have won in your own country and this is not only for beauty pageants but it is universal.
Here are Miss Universe winners who have won in their own country:
Miss Universe 1956, the 5th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 20 July 1956 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, USA. Miss USA 19-year-old Carol Morris won the contest, becoming the second American to win the Miss Universe competition.
Miss Universe 1960, the 9th Miss Universe pageant, was held on July 9, 1960 at the Miami Beach Auditorium in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. American Linda Bement became the third American to win the crown.
Miss Universe 1967, the 16th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 15 July 1967 at the Miami Beach Auditorium in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. Host delegate Sylvia Hitchcock was crowned by Margareta Arvidsson of Sweden at the end of the pageant.
Miss Universe 1997, the 46th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 16 May 1997 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. Brook Lee of Hawaii, USA won at the end of the contest.
Miss Universe 2001 the 50th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 11 May 2001 at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Miss Puerto Rico Denise Quiñones was crowned by Lara Dutta of India at the event's conclusion.
Leila Lopes of Angola crowned her successor host delegate Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island, USA. Miss Universe 2012, the 61st Miss Universe pageant, was held on 19 December 2012 at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
