Miss Philippines Mariel De Leon and The Curse of Miss International Pageant

People do not often believe in or talk about curses.

Since the pageant's inception in 1960, the Miss International pageant has never seen a back to back triumph. While other BIG 3 Pageants (Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth) had back-to-back winning moments, Miss International is yet to see the most awaited event in the pageantry world.

Will Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel De Leon break the Miss International curse and win the very first back to back of its history? Can she duplicate Kylie Versoza's victory?

Since 2011, whoever succeeds the  winner of Miss International from her country clapped very (very) hard in the pageant. Those that have succeeded their queens seem eerily to have suffered miserable fates in the pageant. The Curse of the Miss International Pageant?

Look at the coincidence here:

Here are the Countries who almost took home a back-to-back Miss International Crown :

Great Britain : Linda Hooks, Winner 1972
Zoe Spink, 1st RU 1973
Joanna Booth, 1st RU 1974

United States : Katherine Patricia Ruth, Winner 1978
Anna Maria Rapagna, 1st RU 1979

Venezuela : Consuelo Adler, Winner 1997
Daniela Kosán Montcourt, 1st RU 1998
 Venezuela: Vivian Urdaneta, Winner 2000
Aura Zambrano, 1st RU2001

Venezuela : Elizabeth Mosquera, Winner 2010
Jessica Barboza, 1st RU2011

Philippines' 4 peat Top 5 Placement on Miss International Pageant!
1970- Aurora Pijuan (Miss International)
1971- Evelyn Camus (MI 2nd RU)
1972- Yolanda Dominguez (MI 2nd RU)
1973- Maria Elena Ojeda (MI 4th RU)

I think Mariel can deliver a historic back-to-back Miss International win! In this day and age, you should not believe in curses. She is the country's best for back-to-back titles in the next edition of the Miss International pageant. Goodluck!
