Louvette Monzon Hammond | First Miss World MISS TALENT Award Winner

Did you know that the first winner of Miss Talent in Miss World is a Filipina?

During Miss World 1978 in London,  Louvette Monzon Hammond of the Philippines was awarded "Miss World of Talent" for singing her own composition while accompanying herself on the guitar ( a special award she won judged by phone-in public votes).  She was the first Miss World contestant ever to have won the award. She was 1978 Mutya ng Pilipinas World.
At the age of 15, she modeled in brands like DeBeers, Gemaron, Kodak, Kokuryu, and in Dior.

She had also written two children's books : "Toto and the Magic Toy Box" and "ABC and our Friends".
In 1996, she has written, recorded and published songs in a collaboration with Grammy winning producers. Two compilations in the Pop/RandB/ Jazz and Dance genres contained top charting singles. She's now living in Southern, California.
By the way, she's the older sister of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond.

Miss Talent was introduced in Miss World 1978. After Louvette bagged the first Miss Talent prize in 1978,  the award returned at Miss World 2001.  And starting  in Miss World  2003,  the winner of the event automatically makes it into the semifinals.
